Trees - East River Road
As I continue to document the interesting trees in my neighborhood, I'm always excited when the out-of-focus elements create compositional elements within the photograph. In this photograph, for instance, I do not think that the picture would hold any allure for me if it wasn't for the out-of-focus dots of leaves. It's like they are substituting for bees or gnats buzzing around the scene.
I think this is a Chinese Elm. I can't be sure since, if it is a Chinese Elm, it is one of the few healthy ones I've seen this year. It is not a good year for these elms, but healthy or ill, they are still beautiful.

I didn't realize it until you juxtaposed these two, but the photos of the diseased trees make me really uncomfortable! Raised by a tree expert, I guess I just look at them and think, "Ack! That's bad!" Even though they are really lovely, as images.
