Phone Apps - Undecided

Retro Camera Phone App

This shot of my house during a snow was shot with my Droid using a Retro Camera phone app. It looks okay here. I converted it to b/w to remover the overly sentimental washed-out color cast that the app puts in every pick. The photos look a bit like Holga shots, which to me all look the same and seem like a gimmick. What I wonder is, "Is nostalgia so strong that these Holga shots and retro camera phone apps will saturate the visual market until everyone who remembers the 70's dies off, or will I get a break any time before then?"

Coloplast Exhibit - The Trees

Coloplast US Headquarters
Seven 20x20 inch framed photographs on metallic paper
This is my second exhibit at the Coloplast US Headquarters in North Minneapolis, MN, and I am very grateful for the opportunity. All of their common spaces have a wall of windows and with the white walls the whole feel is light and airy.

How's this for thinking ahead--They installed a track system for hanging art in all of their common spaces. No holes in the walls for this company.

These photos will be on display on the 2nd floor near the engineer's section for 2-3 months. If you work there, enjoy! (I'm talking to you AP).

The Return of the Crab Apple Trees

Crab Apple 11/2010
#9627

I think it has been since May since I shot any crab apple trees. I needed a break, and the clouds were a nice pallet cleanser. This shot is different from many of my crab apple photos since it is actually the tree behind the crabs that is in focus. I like that this shot has the suspended in jelly feel to it.

Art-Attack 2010

Art-Attack in the Northrup King Building

I look forward to Art-Attack for much of the year. The remainder of the year I look forward to Art-A-Whirl. More or less, the same event, but different time of the year.

What will be different in the studio this weekend is that Megan Bell Honigman has remodeled the studio. A cleaner look, whiter walls, and dammit we better keep it clean this time!

Meg has a number of new and smaller paintings that she has created over the past few months, and I will have my first showing of cloud photos that I am calling my Silver Lining series.

So remember, stop by Northrup King #274 on your way in or out. You won't be sorry for long!

About Me

My Photo
Minneapolis, MN, United States
Photographer/Artist based in Mpls, MN. I have a studio in the NE Arts District--Studio #274 at the Northrup King Bldg, 1500 Jackson St NE. I photograph elements of nature to explore color, shape, and composition. My goal is to capture images of the nature around me in a way that explodes (or seaps) with beauty. If that nature is in a vacant city lot, all the better. (All images Copyrighted. Use permitted with permission).
