More St. Louis Crab Apple Trees

1 November 2009 #145 / #108

I'm enjoying including a bit more of the background in these tree photographs. A pine tree or a house blurry in the background can make a difference in the mood of the photo.

St. Louis Crab Apple Trees

1 November 2009 #129 / #101

Crab Apple Trees in St. Louis along the parkway by Grandma Dixie's. These trees are similar in feel the the Mpls trees, more so than the Chicago trees. I love them all.

Crab Apples in Fall - Diptych

1 November 2009 #41 / #39

More Minnesota Crab Apple trees. Can you see how some of the fruit is still from last year. I wonder how many years of fruit there can be on the same tree at the same time.

November 2009 - Crab Apples - Diptych

1 November 2009 #16 / #13

Fall crab apples along the side of the road by the cemetery. They make me feel like I am suspended in clear gelatin. Now wouldn't that be cool? Yes, yes it would.

If I can find some more days with blue sky, I must take more photos like this. I like the blue and red contrast. It won't be long before I will be stuck with the Minnesota perma-grey, which makes for a pretty red/grey contrast, but is certainly not preferable to red/blue.

About Me

My Photo
Michael McGraw
Minneapolis, MN, United States
Photographer/Artist based in Mpls, MN. I have a studio in the NE Arts District--Studio #274 at the Northrup King Bldg, 1500 Jackson St NE. I photograph elements of nature to explore color, shape, and composition. I am currently pairing images as diptychs to invite a closer examination of urban nature. The photographs of trees that you see here are all taken in Minneapolis or Chicago along the side of highways and well-traveled city streets where the beauty of these trees is often overlooked.
