More Twinkley Lights (Jan 2)

Twinkley Lights Jan 2/09 #15-#13

Jan 2 #15 - #13
Surprisingly constellation-like while still maintaining some of the characteristics of the crab apple images.  Wife Sally says that they look like that phosphorescent seaweed stuff, and she maintains that this is a technical term.  I think we are both right, which is the joy of abstracted images.

Art Exhibit - The Independent - Calhoun Square 2nd Floor

Exhibit at the Independent
January 12 - February 9, 2009
Calhoun Square - 2nd Floor
Reception (all are invited) Sunday 1/25 7:00-9:00pm

I am very excited to be showing new photographs at the Independent Restaurant/Bar in uptown, Mpls, MN. The Independent uses their event room as gallery space and is a beautiful space to show work.  I love the blood red walls which look quite nice with the crab apple photographs.

I am titling this exhibit Diptychs.  One of my favorite words.  I am pairing photographs of trees found along the highways and city streets of Minneapolis and Chicago to invite a closer examination of urban nature.

The is a reception on Sunday 1/25 at 7:00pm for everyone who can make it.  There will be free appetizers and drink specials.  The food there is really good, so stopping by is definitely a good idea for those who sometimes get hungry.  Plus all who attend will receive a small metallic print from the show as a little thank you for coming by.  See you then!

I believe the future is less bleak than this, but these are the images that were in front of me that day. Cheers!

About Me

My Photo
Minneapolis, MN, United States
Photographer/Artist based in Mpls, MN. I have a studio in the NE Arts District--Studio #274 at the Northrup King Bldg, 1500 Jackson St NE. I photograph elements of nature to explore color, shape, and composition. My goal is to capture images of the nature around me in a way that explodes (or seaps) with beauty. If that nature is in a vacant city lot, all the better. (All images Copyrighted. Use permitted with permission).
